10 distinct facial expressions map to distinct moods: 

Alice feels peaceful and gets some suggested tracks. We've added a bit more to it, so you can see how we cope with there being more moods than matching expressions -

Our face detection technology can detect 12 different facial expressions - but that doesn't mean we can tell the difference between certain moods using it. For example, a 'restful' mood may be different from a 'peaceful' mood (take a look here: https://trello.com/c/4BQvq4g4/1-definition-supported-moods-list), but their expressions are the same.

The only way we can select different moods with expressions is to make it a bit quirky. That means raising both eyebrows for 'crazy' and one eyebrow for 'focussed', etc. You see what I mean.

That's great for a bit of fun, but if you're not up to ridiculous facial gymnastics just to select a track, then there has to be an alternative.

We've added a way of bypassing the face stuff... ;-)

Alice wants to play a track suitable for her mood.

She navigates to the Mood tab.

Whenever Alice comes to the Mood tab after  starting the app, she will see some reminder balloons. They dissappear until next time the ap is re-started.

Alice see what the general idea is:

Press the arrow pointing to the face (or the face) to start detecting mood.

Press the arrow pointing to the player to get tracks for the mood.

Press the drop-down menu to select the mood, if we get it wrong.

Alice presses the arrow pointing to the face.

While the app is detecting Alice's mood, a spinner is shown.

(You can tap on the spinner to pretend we're detecting facial expressions)

The spinner will keep going until it's sure it's detected an expression. We'll do this by detecting the amount of time between facial changes.

If we see you've held the same expression for more than a couple of seconds, that's good enough for us.

The spinner dissapears, and 'schwinnnng!!' the word 'peaceful' slides into view.

Unless the Alice changes things, this is the mood we'll use if she presses that arrow for some tracks.

We're now ready to choose some tracks for this mood.

Alice can enjoy the selection we have for her, or she can press the arrows to detect mood again, or go and find some more tracks to go with her mood.
